The Mediterranean Diet & Spanish Cuisine
The Mediterranean Diet was declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by Unesco in 2010 and this rich diet, traditionally found in Spain, is considered the healthiest in the world. But as is well known, the Mediterranean Diet is also perfectly compatible with the pleasure of taste delicious dishes.
Spanish food is a blend of cultural influences that over the centuries have made it one of the most popular Mediterranean cuisines. The Spanish culinary tradition has not been forged from one day to the next, it has a long history. During Roman times, in the territories that are now Spain, the gastronomy was very similar to rest of the Roman Empire. But it is between the VIII and IX centuries that a gastronomic revolution takes place thanks to the arrival of the Arabs. The result is that an important part of the current Spanish cuisine is inherited from the Arab tradition. Afterward, Jews, Muslims, and Christians lived in peace together in Spain for centuries, a situation that contrasted with the rest of the Europe. This cultural exchange for so long left an incomparable culinary legacy for Spain that does not have other Mediterranean countries.
Currently, Spanish cuisine has a well-deserved fame and a great influence on the Mediterranean diet. That is why we are pleased to bring near our clients the best traditional Spanish food products, thus collaborating with a healthier lifestyle but without forgetting the delight of the palate.
